昨年7月の個展『KEELUNG 2』では台湾の港町の風景をテーマに制作された作品を展示致しましたが、今回はタイのMae-RIM（メーリム）へと取材地を移し、その独特のムードの漂う場所からエッセンスのみを抽出して再構築された風景や人物を描いた約10点を展示予定です。 坂本佳子の作品は、既製の布地や自身で柄を描いた布地を絵の具と同様の「絵を描くための」素材と捉え、キャンバスに貼付けて画面を描いていくユニークな技法をとっています。また、光そのものを表現し、南国の風景からそのまま切り取られたかのような眩しさを放つ独特の風合いを持っています。
In the previous solo exhibition last July, Sakamoto presented the works focus on "Keelung", a port town in Taiwan. In this exhibition, Sakamoto chose a place called Mae-Rim in Thailand for the subject. Sakamoto extracts essence from its atmosphere and reconstructs landscapes and figures by using oil, acrylic and fabrics which Sakamoto regards as one of the painting materials.
